Flekkefjord Kulturhus

A cultural center in southern Norway, Flekkefjord, 2007, Project-Team: MG, NU, RK, DS

Client: Flekkefjord Kommune

The project incorporates a theater hall, a cinema, a library, a gallery, a youth club and a cultural school on a total area of 6000m2. To break down the mass related to the citiy’s small scale, the project is divided up into three different parts:

• the first two stories are split up into a “city block” of four houses

• the 3rd and 4th floor form a big roof-volume binding the ensemble together

• the urban “carpet” connects the center with the adjacent square and the main access points

All the different functions are visible and accessable from the generous vertical lobby.
